In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, this two-year program aims to enhance high-school teachers’ professional knowledge and train them to teach advanced mathematics (at the five units level). It is essential that teachers who teach advanced mathematics possess a broad and deep mathematical and pedagogical knowledge as well as diverse teaching methods. The learning process consists of one concentrated study day per week during which the teachers study mathematics courses offered by the Faculty of Mathematics at the Technion, along with courses that aim to support their pedagogical knowledge that is required for effective teaching for advanced mathematics students.
