i-TEAM Program

At the core of the program are several key principles:
Pedagogical leadership development – The program trains mathematics coordinators to lead change processes within the school, mentor teachers, and build a professional vision for mathematics instruction.
Mathematical modelling–based instruction – Emphasis is placed on teaching mathematics in ways that connect it to the real world in an applied manner, using school mathematics to understand real-life situations, particularly from STEM fields.
Ongoing professional learning – Participants take part in professional development and coaching that integrate mathematical knowledge, pedagogy, and tools for leading a team.
Learning community – The program fosters a network of coordinators from different institutions for knowledge sharing, consultation, and the joint development of teaching practices.
Systemic impact – The goal is not only to develop the coordinators themselves, but also to lead broader change in the culture of mathematics teaching in schools.
